Palestinian leaders have not gone back on their violent pasts in order to negotiate with Israel. When speaking or writing in Arabic, they continue to promote the philosophy of being violent when it will most help them to gain their ends - ie the destruction of Israel. Palestinian Media Watch, a Jerusalem-based media watch organisation, has produced an excellent bulletin of speech and article extracts by officials in the Palestinian Authority. Entitled "Armed conflict is [a] function of its profitability" the bulletin tells us what we probably knew all along - that things will turn violent again in the Middle East when it suits people to make it so!
